WhatsApp Pay: A New Disruption In Payment System?
WhatsApp Pay
WhatsApp Pay is an integrated in-app payment feature provided by WhatsApp in which the users will able to send and receive money on the way of the messaging app.
The operations will be provided to the users free of cost (no commission fees) but will charge businesses with 3.99% processing fees to receive the payment.
Whatsapp Pay launched in Brazil on 15 June 2020.
Surprisingly, Brazil is not the first market where the officials decided to launch a payment feature.
The first choice for the introduction of the Whatsapp Pay feature was India.
Whatsapp has been testing its payment feature for months in India but is stuck in the regulatory maze from the government of India.
Most people thought that India will be the first country to use this feature as it has 400 million monthly users.
But the launch in India is still stuck and Brazil with 120 million monthly users got the opportunity.
But the good news for Indians is that WhatsApp got the green signal from the regulatory body on 3rd August 2020.
Now, Whatsapp is only waiting for the supreme court’s verdict.
In Brazil, Whatsapp is using Facebook pay for its payment method but for India, Whatsapp has adopted UPI payment methods.
